Hello!
Is it still recommended to learn to troubleshoot LILO for new system administrators. Is there any chance to meet LILO in any environment?

yes. Also, you might want to look into learning GRUB as well. Boot loader configuration skills can often get you out of a jam that might seem to be only solvable through OS reinstall. Its always good to know as much as you can :-D.

IMO Grub is more important as it is used more on common linux systems. You may encounter lilo on older systems or perhaps strange architectures
