?????? on all CD's (including install)

Hello all! I have been a Linux newbie for 4 weeks now, and I have encountered a problem (the first of several, I'm sure). I really love the stability and the speed. KDE is amazing; I never drempt that I could have so much control over my OS! Ok, on to the question:

When I mount a CD, ALL of the directories are "named" ??????. I burned a CD using Nero on an XP Pro box (.jpg's) and there were 2 directories, both at 0 byes.

So, I tried disk 2 of 3 (Mandrake 10.0) and it lists several directories, all of them are large in size, but still are all named ??????.

I was looking for the Tron games (ok, all the games) and they did not install.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Tim

Hi

Hi, thanks for replying. Yes, I checked the 3 Cd's in XP Pro, nad all the files are labled correctly. Keep in mind, these disks are the ones I used to install Linux on another box.

I typed mount at the cli, and the CD is monuted, but the floppy is not. I'll mount it, but the CD problem has me stumped. Any other suggestions?

Thanks again!

Check if you're automount enabled (in mandrake you can see it through the mdk control center) disable the automount and try again ..
The automount feature was giving troubles to em but now all its fine .... i think that the ??? are related to a badly mounted/umount cd

Thank you!

Thank you, Adony! You know, I have to get used to unmounting/mounting the removable media devices, but that worked. I was able to use my CD ROM.
Thanks again!
