Old Thinkpads & best Linux?

I have several Thinkpad 600 & 600x's & an A31.
Trying to figure what Linux is best for such.
And..., trying to understand correct loading procedure.
Thanks, Jim

Any distro should be fine, maybe just choose a lighter window manager like lxde instead of Gnome/KDE for example.

I would personally recommend you either Gentoo or Puppy Linux which are lighweight, fast, reliable.. Or you can check on Google whic OS would be better for your Thinkpad 600 series and A31.

Those are very old, low spec machines-

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:600
P233MMX up to PII-300MHz, 32MB/64MB of RAM standard.

PIII-450 up to 650MHz, 64MB RAM standard.

P4-M- 1.6 up to 2.0GHz, 128/256MB RAM standard.

There are very few distros that will run on 64MB machines. Even 128/256MB is what most 'light' distros are meant to run with. I'd try antix, it should run a 64MB system.
