Do you have a swap partition? With only 128MB RAM it is highly recommended.

Hey Anti!

I happen to know that Peter's having hardware problems at the moment. Trying to get hold of a suitable graphics card I believe...

Very sorry, I didn't notice Page 2 and your posts - thanks; I do have a swap partition (antiX added it - I selected that option whilst installing) but the graphics card failed (15 year old PC) and after advice from http://www.motherboards.org/forums/ (incredibly helpful) I have ordered the very same item (which may therefore not work!) from ebay and a backup item from new that is higher spec'd (which may not work for different reasons!).

I will let you know the outcome.

The replacement graphics card works fine, so my old PC now has antiX base installed OK but for a newbie used to Windows it's like being stranded some little way up a cliff - can't get up, can't get down - yet!
