I wants to know this.


i want to clarify who view my posted, last week.

I like to install ubuntu 10.10 32 bit for my old computer.

here's species

3200+ AMD sempromtm process
80 HD

1.17 GB memory

but my question is ,which is better for ubuntu or xubuntu ?

That computer should handle either version perfectly well. It is just a matter of your preference.

Hello reborn777,

regarding to desktopenvironments like Gnome (Ubuntu) or KDE (Kubuntu) or XFCE (Xubuntu) I'd recommend to take a look at the graphics-hardware of the old computer. At least KDE (the recent releases) needs a relatively recent graphicsadapter. XFCE doesn't use that much resources, so it may be that Xubuntu is the better choice for you.

You may post the output of

lspci
so we can check which graphics-adapter you have.

Note that most likely the system can also be installed in the 64bit version.

I don't disagree with stress_junkie's answer, I think it is correct. I may be inclined to use lubuntu or xubuntu.

Your system is kind of on the fence in my opinion. In a few ways it is pretty good while in others it might be lacking. I guess you can easily try ubuntu an see how well you like it but later you may have some slowness.

yesterday, i decide to ubuntu 10.10 installed it to my computer old, seem perfectly worked, very fast. i don't see any the problem. that's all. thanks for the answered. i am very much a appreciate.
