ogle, xine ... whatever - can't handle VIDEO_TS.VOB

Hi everybody, my system is still recovering from rpm "upgrade" of my kernel (that was stupid ), so I am trying to install everything I had prior "upgrade", I got everything rolling but DVD. Prioir "upgrade" I used ogle in conjunction with libcss-fly from dvdkit and I watched my favorites on DVD's on my comp if I wished, now I compiled everything from the source ogle, ogle_gui, libdvdread, lbcss-fly, a52dec, xvattr, xine-lib, xine-ui, etc. And I get the message Unable to find >VIDEO_TS.VOB< on dvd (this is in xine), and demux: dvdreadblocks failed - this is what ogle throws after it displays WARNING screen about copyrights and yada-yada-yada, and it quits. All my DVD's are purchased through the retail, they are not pirated or bootlegged. Can anyone point me what I am missing here?
Thanks, neo

woahhhhhhhhhh no bootlegs here please.....

man jsut use MPlayer!!!!! i thought you already had seen the light?!

with mplayer you can play a dvd title with "-dvd 1" but also you CAN directly play a vob file, using a drive for authentication, eg:

mplayer /mnt/dvd/video_ts/vts1_01.vob -dvdauth /dev/dvd

i think that's about right.
