Nvidia GeForce FX5200 problems with FC11

I recently installed FC11 for the first time, and after having some display issues with the onboard video card, I decided to try the Nvidia card from my other PC that runs windows. I install the Nvidia card in the PCI slot, plug in the monitor to the Nvidia card, and power up the PC. The boot process goes nowhere, as it immediately displays what looks like a core dump, and then gives the message ""Fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed!" and locks up.

I then removed the card, and hooked the monitor back up to the onboard video slot to get Fedora to boot up again.

Once I was back in Fedora, I:

1) Enables access to the free and nonfree repositories.
2) yum install kmod-nvidia

Once I did this, the onboard card seemed to work and I could run games with applets, however, the refresh rate was 0.

3) I tried the Nvidia card again, but no dice. Same core dump and lockup.

Any ideas how to get the refresh rate to anything from 0?
Any ideas on why the Nvidia card locks everything up just trying to boot?

TIA,
Jeff

You could try disable the on board graphics from bios.

I tried, but the only option that I have is Onboard or Auto. Unless I'm looking in the wrong place.

Its a Dell Optiplex GX260.

What happens...

Is the problem fedora? Have you tried the combination of your PCI graphics card and the BIOS setting Auto with any live-cds of the latest linux distributions?
