When you attempt to install your nvidia driver. What error do you get? What is supposebly the problem in your kernel?

Error messages would do good.

There's another way too, in addition to using the driver from nVidia's site - installing a prepackaged rpm holding the driver. This is typically an easier method, because you don't need to deal with making the kernel module and loading it and such, as somebody has already done it for you (for the Fedora kernel) and packaged the needed things into a nice file that you can just install and be done with it.

More information can be found on the web forums, for example here is mentioned the Livna reposity:

blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/how-to-install-nvidia-graphics-driver-on-fedora-core-6-linux-in-5-simple-steps/

Note that Fedora 6 is getting old; the newest stable one at the moment is Fedora 8, and version 9 is being released in a month if I'm not mistaken. Newer operating system version could also mean newer driver support and maybe less trouble.
