If anyone has installed Mandrake 9.2.1 with a Geforce 3 ti500 and got it to work, then please let me know how. I'm at the end of my rope...
This stuff is all so stupidly confusing, why is it so difficult to get it up and running. I need step by step instructions with each and every keystroke in the command line, isn't that a bummer!?
Here's what I've done: I installed the 3 CD PowerPack of Mandrake 9.2.1 with all options selected, with a dual boot with my beloved XP, this all works great! Then I boot up to linux and the screen flashes 3 or 4 times then goes to the text login.
Well, after downloading the most recent .rpm from NVIDIA and managing to copy it to / in my Linux partition, I run it and wouldn't you know it, MORE PROBLEMS. It says some kernels are not matching so it will build me one, but walla, it can't build me one because it can't find something or some crap!
I'm running an intel motherboard with intel 1.8gig, 1.25gig RAM, Geforce 3 ti500, all common parts...WHY the heck can't I get Mandrake working?????
I wan't to check it out so bad and also play some cool games I keep hearing about...
Please help NVIDIA people that got through this problem!?
(get it going and I'll throw a huge party here in Ontario, Canda)
I'm replying in my newly installed Mandrake 9.2.1....
Thanks a bunch DrOzz, you rock!
I think the problem I was having was that during the install I wasn't installing everything needed to run the NVIDIA update...so I reinstalled and checked all the DEVELOPMENT stuff and it installed fine.
