nVIDIA Drivers installation

I'm trying to install the nVIDIA drivers for my GForce FX5900 but the installation won't work because I'm missing kernel headers or something. I'm still very new to Linux and have no idea what its on about. If I need to compile a kernel I'm not sure I can do that heavy duty stuff!

My Distro is Mandrake 9.2

Thanks in advance

Steve

sounds like your missing the kernel source? you should be able to find and download the source for your kernel in rpmdrake (configuration-->packaging-->install software), or at least thats where I got it.

Let us know how it goes, I don't mean to discourage you, but I had a heckuva time getting the nvidia driver to work on mandrake 9.2 with my FX card, as have lots of others, the way it sounds.

yeah getting into compiling the kernel is not too desireable for newbies [although I've seen plenty do it and get it resolved] but I was hoping that it may not be necessary. I would triple check that you are following the nvidia installation instructions to the "T" before getting into that.
