Nvida
Managed to install the drivers ok but, Cant find the |xf86config file anywhere to edit it to make the darn driver actualy load up and work.. It is that file I need alter isnt it? But since I cant find it maybe the system is using some other file? Any help is appriciated thanks.
EDIT sorry I am using slackware 10.2 (well trying to lol) |
The xf86.conf should reside in /etc/X11/
xf86config is the command to issue if you need to drastically rework your XFree server. But seriously - try xorg. |
it is located in /etc/X11

please see -> http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...04#post2173004 that is my problem... help  |
I just read your thread i placed the nvidia setup file straight into root (so I didnt have to remember its path) went into runlevel 3 logged in as 'root' and then just executed it from there ....
Mind it did say I didnt have a supported kernal or somthing to that effect and asked me to either specify a new one or let 'it' try and build me one lol basicly, I thought well what the hell if it thinks it can build what its wanting who am i to argue with that even if it had have messed it up completely then it still would have made a better job of it than me lmao :D Anyways it built it and erm yeh after some messing about with 'xorgconfig' and other interesting stuff named likewise then its all working and hey I even have a list of screen res and ref rates to play with Woot... I might add that i did break KDE twice trying to do this though.. Sorry I cant be of more help FireGunz but if I do find or rather stumble across anything that I think may help i will let you know m8 ;) |
thank for your reply and help
