I am using redhat linux. I wanted to the list of peers using ntpq -p which gives me the response "Temporary failure in name resolution". Any suggestions?

That means that the names of the server(s) you have in
ntp.conf can't be resolved to IP addresses. Check the
spelling or your resolv.conf or your network connectivity
to your DNS server or ...

thanks for your suggestion, but i have already checked ntp.conf and resolv.conf and both seems to be fine.

have u made their entries in /etc/hosts

Check if their names are mentioned properly.
