NTP question
I'm new to NTP, we have an NTP server called NTPServer, our SUSE server should be in sync with this NTP server, when i run "ntpq -p" on the SUSE server i see the results below. I did some research and i think the (*) menas that this is the server where this SUSE server are synced to. but in the output below i see the (*) is not in front of the "NTPServer".
How can i change that to make sure this SUSE server is synced to the NTPServer? Thanks for the help in advance SUSE_Server:/etc # ntpq -p remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter ============================================================================== +128.252.19.1 .GPS. 1 u 25 64 7 40.679 0.633 9.832 *129.7.1.66 .GPS. 1 u 37 64 3 47.341 -2.706 0.139 +18.145.0.30 .PSC. 1 u 20 64 7 22.198 1.511 0.167 -14.1.1.26 130.207.244.240 2 u 21 64 7 0.117 2.731 0.025 -14.33.1.26 172.17.64.12 2 u 17 64 7 24.418 2.705 0.044 -14.33.1.24 128.252.19.1 2 u 18 64 7 24.407 2.688 0.036 LOCAL(0) 73.78.73.84 5 l 4 16 17 0.000 0.000 0.001 -NTPServer .GPS. 1 u 18 64 7 0.456 2.386 0.028 |
You don't. If you don't want it to use other servers, then don't include them, or at least only specify backup servers with a lower strata.
