2 options
Get a 98 boot disk and fdisk /mbr
after that see if XP boots.
If is dosent there is something about enabling LBA in Grub.conf I dont have a link but I bet you could easily google it.
Reinstall grub or Fedora or Ubuntu ( hasn't failed me yet ) and pay attention to the LBA section.
if that fails....you may have fscked you XP partition! uuugh. Reinstall XP...you'd have to eventually any way

What exactly do you mean by "from"?

Also, when you installed Fedora, did you not install a bootloader (GRUB or LILO, I'm not sure what the default for Fedora is)?

If you want to reinstall NTLDR:

Boot from your XP CD
Go to the recovery console (you'll see a message like, "press R to repair an installation")
Log in with your administrator password
At the DOS prompt, type "fixmbr" without the quotes.

You won't be able to boot FC though (unless you set up NTLDR to boot it, search Google if that's what you want to do). Other than that, I'm not sure how you can reinstall GRUB/LILO. Fedora's CDs may have a repair feature, but I don't know.

Edit: too slow!

The error message often means that the windows partition is not marked as bootable and/or is in a hidden partition. Run:

fdisk -l

and verify that “*” appears next to the win partition in the “boot” column and that it is not “...hidden...” in the “system” column.
