NTFS-Config update wrecked iPod automount?
I've been using Ubuntu for the last 9 months, but am still a noob. I know enough to fiddle and stuff things up . . . but not enough to fix my mistakes!!
Sorry to post on this again - there's already so many problems with iPods not automounting, maybe there should be a stickie or wiki?? Anyway, my iPod (5G, 60GB) was automounting perfectly on both my Ubuntu Feisty 7.04 machines then . . . It stopped automounting on my desktop (still works on the laptop). It stopped working immediately after some routine updates from the 'Updatemanager'. It works with XP, and my Feisty laptop. I can only conclude that an update to software only on the desktop has mucked up a setting or my fstab or something. I saw a reference to problems with ntfs-config and ipod automounting, and that extra ntfs utilities are needed to get it working again, on the Ubuntu forums, but I can't find it again. Could an upgrade messed up one of my configuration files etc? Any ideas?? Grateful for any help. PS I think I've been able to manually mount the ipod (though no desktop icon has appeared) |
Fixed.
Used Storage device manager to reset the defaults on the ipod and rebooted. Working fine again. |
