Well... 2 steps forward and 3 steps back.. I just spent a day troubleshooting what was wrong with my mandrake 9.1 . Now that it is up and running as a web server, what is the next procedure to load pages to the server. Can somebody please tell me what I need to do to satisfy this message.
Congratulations! The Web Server software on this system is operational. If you're the webmaster of this site, you may now add content to this directory and replace this page.
. :Note: If you are seeing this instead of the webpage you expected, it's most likely because the server is not yet fully configured, or is under an upgrade. Come again tomorrow and your usual content should be back.
thats what it is for redhat, so i'm assuming it's the same for mndrk...btw what version of apache? you might need to add files to an htdocs folder in a different path.
hell, just search your apache conf file for the path :P
ok, with that version of apache the htdocs root is /var/www/html
all files within the directory will be displayable as long as apache is running.
and to replace the default "this server is working" page, make your home (first) page of the site index.html/index.php/etc. but im sure you already knew that
now... I have to find a way to move files from one box to the other. I think I will try YAFC ssh .. I heard that this is a good FTP tool. I get over one obsticle and on to another. however I feel good about my experiences and experiments. Its starting to make some sense. thanks martinman....
