Not really understand Applets in Gnome
Hi,
I have a few questions: 1. How can I know what version of Gnome interface I'm using? 2. As I understand, no matter what distribution of Linux I'm using, I can always install new Gnome version without installing a new version of Linux. Is it right? And if yes, how? 3. About Applets of Panel in Gnome: they are limited to what Gnome supply - or can we create our own applets? And is there any site that I can download these applets (other than the default of my distribution - Fedora Core 2). The last thing I want to know is somehow depend on the point of view: Historically, between Gnome and KDE, which interface are more preferred? Is there any advantage and disadvantage of each interface? (perhaps, answer of this question can be written as an article ^_^ - but I just want to have some idea) I'm using Gnome inteface - but sometimes I also try the KDE. However, I don't like KDE in my first impression because of following reasons: + I have no idea why I can't play Audio CD in KDE (but in Gnome, I can) (?). + the interface of KDE seems a little bit "hard" However, I feel that KDE has more features than Gnome. Am I right? |
