Not listed in fedora's log in screen.
 

Hi people!
Im new to fedora and was happy to overcome some of the installation problems I had.
There is just this little thing... I cannot log in.
I am not included in the login screen.

I tried clicking "Not listed?" and putting my info, but the authentication fails.
I pressed ctrl+alt+f2, logged in as root and tried to create a new user but still not coming up.

Any ideas ?
I suppose this is something stupid and it might be right in front of me but i cannot see it...

I am not using fedora. But I think probably it sets a group rule that a non-member to that group is not given access to X. Try find the /etc/group and examine if anything indicates something about the X usage.

~# cat /etc/group

Is there something that indicates?

I did what you said and i get something like:
root:x:0:
bin:x:1:
daemon:x:2:
sys:x:3:

and so on...
Not really sure what i am looking for.

I emailed my teacher regarding my problem and he replied saying:
"Sounds like you didn't create a user. Log in as "root" with your admin password. Then you can use the GUI to create a user."

I don't understand what he wants me to do...

That means you are to login as "root" (for the user name) and for the password you will give "root"'s password. I assume you are the owner of that system and you have the root password (did you install it your self? if yes then you have the password of the root.)

GUI mean Graphic User Interface --that windows and dialogue boxes (usually seen) not the shell or terminal.

After you installed, when you rebooted the computer it should have run a program to create a user: it asks you for your name and to set a password. Do you remember this? If it didn't happen, something was very wrong with your installation disk!

If you do remember creating a user, log in as root in tty2 and try
cat /etc/passwd
Do you see your name at the end of the file, like "david:x:500:500" and so on? Does
ls /home
show a directory in your name?

If you don't exist, then do
useradd kirba
passwd kirba

I sorted it out people. I reinstalled from the disk and after the reboot i was on the welcome screen where you set things up.
I dont remember doing this again in the past so there must have been smthing wrong with the installation.
Now i am listed properly.
