The /opt/java/bin/java file doesn't exist, as it says in your error message. Modify the tomcat config to point to where you have java installed.

I installed tomcat on my RHEL-5 machine newly.And my configuration is as following

IN .bash_profile FILE:
[root@localhost ~]# cat .bash_profile
# .bash_profile

# Get the aliases and functions
if [ -f ~/.bashrc ]; then
. ~/.bashrc
fi

# User specific environment and startup programs

PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin
export JAVA_HOME=/opt/apache/jdk-6u11-linux-i586.rpm_FILES/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_11/
export CATALINA_HOME=/opt/apache/tomcat/
export PATH
unset USERNAME
export CLASSPATH=$JAVA_HOME/lib
PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH
export PATH
[root@localhost ~]#

and whenevenr i am trying to startup and shutdown my tomcat server i am gettin this error:
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:8080.

Moreover whenever i am trying shutdown the server i am getting the following error:

[root@localhost ~]# $CATALINA_HOME/shutdown.sh
Using CATALINA_BASE: /opt/apache/tomcat/
Using CATALINA_HOME: /opt/apache/tomcat/
Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: /opt/apache/tomcat//temp
Using JRE_HOME: /opt/apache/jdk-6u11-linux-i586.rpm_FILES/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_11/
