Not able to startup in graphic mode

Hello!!

I just completed my first Centos 5 installation and everything seemed to workout fine. I am setting up a server for the company I work for and they would like it to boot directly into graphic mode, but I only get the command line at startup.

I have already checked multiple forums and followed a number of instructions posted there but nothing seems to work. Here´s what I have done so far:

- I edited my /etc/inittab file and changed it to
id:5:initdefault:

- I have tried the startx command and works just fine.

- I have this in my /etc/sysconfig/desktop file

DESKTOP="KDE"
DISPLAYMANAGER="KDM" (I have also tried with "GDM" and "KDE", following suggestions I found on the internet. None works)

After bootup, I can get to the greeter by using ctrl+alt+F7, but I would like that to be my default upon bootup.

What else do I need to change? Please help!

Thanks!

I know you said you checked a number of forums, but by chance have you read the instructions posted at this link?

(The same link is available for the CentOS site, but it is down currently)

Hello!

Sorry I took so long to answer. I had already checked the address you refer to and it did not work either.

I decided to go along with the installation, it's not really a big deal that the server does not boot directly into graphic mode (would have liked to have figured out why it didn't work though).

Thanks for your time and your help.
