Not able to play MP3s through X-MMS
Hi again,
I got some replies for this post the last time around. But the problem does not seem to go away even after I used OSS. The files are selected fine in x-mms and when I press "Play", the program just stays as it is without playing the MP3s. I checked out if I was using the right options. Everything checks out fine. My system is an AMD 1700+ XP with a compatible MSI motherboard (with a built in soundcard.) Please advise!! The MP3s play fine in windows and Knoppix, but not in Mandrake. Sincerely Arun:confused: |
in xmms you can select output plugins, try switching between them.
|
Open a console window and ps xa | grep arts to see if the arts sound server is running if it is you have two options kill off the process or install xmms-arts plugin and use it for the sound.

i had this problem yesterday. Once you open the program, right click and go into plug-ins. For your installed mp3 codec just change the output plug-in, there will prolly be 2 or 3, jus switch between them and you should be able to play em.
so yeah, basically what neenee said, just switch between the output plug-in for the mp3 codec :) |
