I am Hareesh. Recently installed fedora core 6 on dell
inspiron 1520. Everything is fine. I have installed VLC player and having
totem movie player too. But the DVD drive is able to recognise(mount)data
discs but not movie discs of VCD or DVD format.I am getting error as
"not able mount disc. No proper media present in drive." Please help me
guys as soon as possible. I am not able to watch all my movies which
are in DVD and VCD format.
VCDs have no filesystem, and are therefore unmountable. You should still be able to view the contents with a media player. I use mplayer, and I select Open/PlayVCD...

After Installing mplayer, I am getting an Error in playing the VCD
Hi rod,
After installing the mplsyer. It is showing a fatal error message as " Error opening/initializing the selected video_out(-vo device)". Please help how to overcome this error.
Thank you for you suggestion to install mplayer.(or else i would have faced lot of problems in playing all my video discs).
In the Preferences menu there is a tab for video output drivers. My setup shows five choices. Perhaps yours is similar and will work with a different choice. If not, I don't think I can help you on this one. Maybe start another thread for this problem.
