Question noobs level

Is it only me or are these so called newbies trying to do enormously complicated things?

Sometimes.

But you have to remember some "newbies" are only "newbies" here - they may have fairly sophisticated knowledge of computing in general or (like me when I was a "newbie" here) have worked on Unix for years and are just trying to figure out the Linux way to do the things they're used to doing.

I notice that most of the truly difficult questions (including a couple I've asked) get no answers at all.
