Noobie needs help with Java plugin

Just installed Fedora, now trying to install java machine. I downloaded the bin file from the Sun site, ran the commands as instructed, agreed to the file and it created the java folder as mentioned in the installation instructions. Except it still doesn't work for me. Everytime I try to access something java related, I get the prompt, to view this page you need the required plugin (x-java-vm / plugin) something like that. Can anyone help? Am I not doing something obvious? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did you create the link from your browser's plugin directory to the libjavaplugin_oji.so file?

su to root, cd to your browser's plugins directory (/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins or something to that effect probably), then type ln -s /usr/local/java/j2sdk-1.4.2_02/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so . (your path will probably be different).
Type exit to exit superuser mode and fire up your web browser. Type aboutlugins in the location bar and if you've done it right you should have a lot of Java-related entries there.
