NOOB NVIDIA Issue with Inspiron 2650

First of all, I am a user of RH9 for 1 day (sorry), I installed on an old dell latitude without a hitch, using it to learn on. I decided that I want a machine that runs faster than a PII, so I decided to wipe out my XP Laptop and install there. I know there are problems with the NVIDIA drivers, but dont see my issue here. When switching to console (ctl-alt-f2) I don't see a darn thing. I know it is running, cause if I login from memory, see the computer working. The problem is this. I need to download the proper driver for the NVIDIA. I have installed in graphical mode, how do I make RH9 boot to command line? Also, can someone direct me to step by step instructions on editing that file that I need to edit after installing the driver? I know DOS, and am considered pretty good in Windows, I am learning the commands in Linux, but as you know, unless you immerse yourself, you wont learn. Also one (more) stupid question. If I install to text mode, I am looking at a login prompt, how do I shutdown from the login prompt???

Thanks for all the help in advance!

WOO HOO, ignore this post, it is amazing what you will find if you actually look around. I have updated the drivers successfully! Also figured out all the commands that I needed. Only one issue now is that in Console, the screen flickers real bad after updating the drivers, if anyone has suggestions, please let me know!
