Noob needs your help (partitioning for debian)

Hi all,

I plan to install Debian 3.0 r1 on my laptop. Since it is a first installation I need of course some partitions.

But I'm a little confused : may someone please explain me how to proceed with the different partitions needed for an install?

I mean tell me how much I have to install, wich size for each, and how to set / /home and so on.

My laptop has a 30 GB drive and 512 M memory.

Thanks!

Well I already did a search.
Currently I have

hda1 BOOT PRIMARY Linux 5000 M
hda2 PRIMARY Linux swap 1024 M
PRI/LOG Free Space 25980 M

Is it correct? And now?

try putting a key word in the search.
It is preference. I usually do mine

/boot
/
/user/local
/home
/swap
