Noob in installing Fedora Core 5

Hey guys I bought a INTEL GIGABYTE 3.0GHz / 3.06GHz DESKTOP COMPUTER SYSTEM recently and it does not have any OS with it. I tried loading Fedora Core 5 cd but it says Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. the BIOS is set to CDROM. I tried installing WinXP and it worked but I removed it because I want my computer exclusively for Linux. The cd came from a Red Hat Fedora 5 book. please help me...

The FC5 CD with the book is corrupt. Download FC6 and install that. (You may want to consider FC7... now in the later stages of testing, or a distro with a more recent release.)

You can check quickly with a live distro, DSL, Knoppix, Ubuntu ...
