No Write permission to my MP3 Player
Hello I use Linux Mint 7 GNU desktop
I got a MP3 player of Ebay it is a Rizone 32 GB At first it worked fine. I copied 2 folders on it and latter I tried to put the rest of my music on it about 8 GB it got 6 GB in to it and the copy failed. Now it won't let me write to it. "The permissions of 'Floppy0' could not be determined." and there are "no write Emblems" on all the folders. Pleas Help Randy (oh and I checked the "user and groups" and I should be able to use a MP3 Player and whatever I want full Permission) |
Do you know what file system the mp3 player is using?
cheers, jdk |
i would say that your user is not assigned to proper group. that basically means - permission denied etc. try copy/delete test files as a root. if it works - you already know the solution, but even if root cant do anything i would recommend reformat your player to fat32 and try again.

I Tried "Open as root"
I tried "open as root" by right clicking and selecting the "open as root" option from the drop down menu and I got this: "Error while copying to 'music'. The destination is read-only."
It is VFAT (FAT32) file system and I can't format it because I don't know where to get the frame-ware. Thanks for all your help, keep it coming. Randy |
What mount point have you used to mount the mp3 player to? Does the mount point have the appropriate permissions? I don't think a VFAT fs does permissions but the mount point needs to have the correct ones.

I found out how to reformat the player and now everything is fine
Thanks for all the help Randy |

I just got the 16GB version of the same player. How did you format it?
|
I found an option for it in the players settings menu on was check player and the also was format internal memory. I hope that helps.
