Question No video on Ubuntu 11.04 after upgrade from 10.10

I inadvertently upgraded from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04 earlier tonight and once the upgrade was complete and I restarted the system, I now get no video. I'm able to get to prompt with Ctrl-Alt-F1, but I'm not really sure what to do to fix this at that point.

The video on the system is an NVIDIA 6150SE. I know before this upgrade I was running the NVIDIA driver that was recommended once the initial install of 10.10 had completed. Help would be appreciated.

Do you still have the option to boot the 10.10 kernel?

Seems not, or at least I have the same no-video problem when I hold down Shift in an attempt to get to the grub menu when booting. All that gets displayed is "Grub loading..." for a second or two, and then back to the no video. Is there not either some setting I can change from the command line or a way to get the NVIDIA driver back that would take care of this? Or am I just going to be installing 10.10 yet again?

You may have to use ubuntu live cd to get video working.

I have a very similar problem. Only 10.04 and 10.10 didn't work either. On one computer compaq sr1901wm. ubuntu 9.04 and previous no problem. fedora 15 and debian 6 same problem on this computer. I have kubuntu lubuntu and ubuntu 11.04 on three other computers and works fine no problem. It has something to do with nvidia n430 6150se? Strange hardware incompatible? I have installed linux dozens of times. Please help!
