"no termcap library found" when building gdb

Hi:

I am trying to build gdb on Fedora 14. I get an error:

"no termcap library found"

I have not been able to find a good answer by Googling.

There is some recommendation to make sure libncurses is installed, which I think it is.

locate *libncurses.so" returns:
/lib/libncurses.so.5
/lib/libncurese.so.5.7

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Is there any reason why you're building it, rather than getting it via the package manager?

# yum install gdb ( See post # 2.)

# yum provides */libtermcap.so : ncurses-devel

Building a different version :
# yum install ncurses-devel texinfo gettext flex bison expat-devel sharutils dejagnu glibc-static libunwind-devel valgrind gcc-c++ gcc-gfortran readline-devel rpm-devel python-devel texinfo-tex

rpmbuild -bb gdb.spec :
Creates gdb-7.2.90.20110411-34.fc14* , gdb-gdbserver-7.2.90.20110411-34.fc14*
from the Fedora 15 source http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...4.fc15.src.rpm
> gdb-7.2.90.20110411-34.fc15.src.rpm

I am actually trying to build gdb server for an ARM target and trying to follow the instructions on this page:

http://cplusadd.blogspot.com/2009/05...arm-linux.html

It seems like that requires building gdb from the source.

I will try "yum install ncurses-devel" and see how that goes.

Thanks!

"yum install ncurses-devel" seems to fix the error.

Thanks for all the help!
