got it fixed

I discovered through much trouble that my USB was in fact bootable on the ASUS M3N78 PRO motherboard... it just notices the USB as a HardDrive in the BIOS after the bootable USB is inserted into a USB port and told to boot from it.

WHEW...

I downloaded a repair image file from:
http://www.proposedsolution.com/down...dvd-iso-image/

formated a 4gig USB drive:
from a command prompt:
diskpart
select disk # (whatever is your USB #)
clean
create partition primary
active
format fs=FAT32 quick
assign

Used 7zip:
http://www.7-zip.org/ and extracted the .iso file to the removable clean bootable USB (insert letter x: or f: or whatever)

Loaded the now bootable USB drive, booted, and did a windows repair from the command Prompt:
bootrec.exe /fixmbr

sure fixed my problem...hope this helps someone avoid a near heart attack...
