no sound when watching live tv
Just like to a big hello to you all. started using linux about august last year and love it. Would love to ditch windows but there is one thing stopping me. spec of pc at bottom of post.
i have been trying to get sound to work when watching live tv. i have tried tvtime and mythtv. i have sound when not trying to watch live ie in firefox and totem and amarok. what i am trying to do is watch analog feed from my set top box (using rf). in mythtv i could not get any sound at all. tried tvtime and there was no sound also so after doing alot of searches using google. i managed to get some sound but it skips every few seconds. to do this i used sox. tried these command lines after tvtime was running. sox -c 2 -t alsa hw:1,0 -t alsa default (very poor quality, cant understand anything) so tried sox -c 1 -t alsa hw:1,0 -t alsa default (as above sound skips every few seconds) any ideas will be deeply appreciated. Terry pc specs ubuntu 8.04 could not get it work in 7.10 either. hda intel onboard sound Asus p5b mobbo core2dou geforce 7900gs hauppaugge hvr 1110 (saa7134) |
I have this problem with my mythtv box, when I boot it up, it defaults to listening
to the microphone port instead of the line in. I use the utility aumix which is a sound card/mixer utility. You can use this to select inputs and adjust gains, I also had to increase the gain settings. |
