No Sound when USB WebCam attached!

My Mandrake Linux 8.0 installation works fine with sound from my Soundblaster Live 1024 card until my Logitech WebCam is attached to the USB port. NEW hardware is discovered during boot up but whatever option I choose the result is the same - No Sound!. Pyhsically removing the web cam from the USB port and selecting remove New Hardware configuration during boot up and sound is restored as normal. How can I get round this as I do not want to have to physically disconnect the webcam from my system every time I boot up in Linux.
All help greatfully appriciated.

John

sounds like it has a irq conflict and the webcam is wanting to use the same resources as your sound card.

You can fix this by doing setserial on the device which IRQ you want to change. Look it up, you will find the appropriate method.
Obviously you will need to change either the sound card or the camera's IRQ.
