Angry No sound since loading Linux

I am new to Linux and have a lot to learn.
Since loading Linux I have no sound on my computer. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Since my crystal ball is in repair currently I have to ask for some information:
1. Which distribution in which version.
2. We need to know which sound-hardware you are using.
3. Have you tried to unmute your sound with alsamixer on the commandline?

For getting more information about your hardware please post the output of the commands
Code:
lspci
and
Code:
lsmod | grep ^snd

First run "alsaconf" as root. This may install missing drivers that alsa needs. Then run "alsamixer". Make sure that sound isn't muted. If your distro has a sound configuration program, run it as well.

You should indicate which distro you have installed. Putting that info in your user profile will save time, as we don't need to ask every time.
