When you type lspci look for something with the word sound in it and paste that line here, that will tell me what kind of sound hardware your pc has, I can help you more once I have this information.

Running aplay -l should provide the hardware information.
If not lspci | grep -i audio should do it-

I (think) the default sound for Puppy is alsa-

Hope that helps.

Have u turn up the volume? What software are yo?u using to play audio? Try setting the output plug in of your audio player to alsa. For a simple test try playing a Wave file with aplay

Ok so you have a:
Code:
Intel 82801DB-ICH4 device0:Intel ICH sound card
I see that you have already highlighted it as the default; that good.
Do you have sound now?

If not, open the terminal and type"alsamixer" Raise up all of the columns.(pcm & master, etc.)
Use your arrow keys to arrow over to each column.
If the column has a {mm} it's muted. To unmute a column just type the small m:-

This is a good video for the alsamixer.

Your setup has just the one soundcard which has been properly detected and configured. The problem is either (a) volume or (b) the software you use is not configured to use alsa. Do you use pulseaudio? To check do
Code:
ps -A | grep pulse
