No sound on my laptop

I bought compaq cq45 205au which has a HP IDT high definitino audio. I installed ubunt 9.04 on my laptop. Everytime i boot it it says softreset failed : device is not ready and then boot successfully. But sound is not working . It shows some IDT and ATI in preferences. I downloaded and installed alsa drivers but still there is no sound and now it doesn't show IDT and ATI mixer also. It shows some null output. Please help somebody???
