No sound in newly installed Fedora
I just installed Fedora Core 3 (FC4 wouldn't install properly), and its dumb. In Soundcard Detection, it listed my soundcard by name and number, but the 'test
sound' button produced no sound. Then it tells me it can't detect my soundcard, even though it's listed right there. I installed sndconfig and ran it and got "ERROR: No sound modules found." I did not have this problem with RedHat 9. Is there anything else I can do to get sound? |
sounds like the sound modules are not installed.
lsmod | grep snd Note: the name and number in soundcard detection are just the product etc strings stored on the card. This does not mean the card has been "detected", only that it is plugged in. When the sound test is performed, then it looks for the card. The sound test failed. |
