No sound in mozilla

Hi members,

I am using RatHat9 for just about several months. Every time I want to play mp3 or some sound files, I need to open the volume control program first.

And some websites, the content integrated with sound, how can I hear the sound in mozilla browser?

Thank you indeed.

You will need a plugin. Many people use an mplayer plugin for this. Mplayer can be found at http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/news.html. Information on installing the mplayer plugin can be found at http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/

No sound in Flash

I have installed the mplayer to give a try, but there are problems with install of
mplayerplug-in

I am using redHat9, the default version of mozilla is 1.3, I erase the old mozilla rpm -e mozillaXXX.rpm and manually install the latest one 1.8
Now I install mplayerplug-in

# rpm -i mplayerplug-in-2.70-rhel3.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
mozilla >= 1.4 is needed by mplayerplug-in-2.70-rhel3

I just force it to install the without dependency. Assume I have installed the plugin and mplayer, when I go to some pages with streamed media file, should the mplayer run that type of file ??

I know many members also have the same problem with no sound in Flash, I took a look of the old thread and try chmod 666 /dev/dsp but still not very impressive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

I am using Mandrake 10.0 and have successfully installed the mplayer plugin (mplayerplugin-1.0-0pre2.1mdk). It works fine for quicktime sites but I have no sound. On the mozilla site it says you need to have the .so file in the plugin folder for netscape and the .xpt fiile in the component file. I could never find the .xpt file. I am not sure if that is the problme as I do not know what that file does.

BTW- I can hear and see at a site like:
http://www.flamingmailbox.com/maccom...ies/index.html

but I only get video at site like:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramo...al_medium.html

There have been a change in Flash Player in Mozilla. The /dev/shm is now a hard requirement. Please check if you have it.

Ooops!
