no sound in mandrake
Hi all
My sound is integrated in a jetway Polaris mb, Mandrake 10 apprared to recognise it on installation and installed a driver snd-cmicpi, is't a C Media device on the mb. On bootup i get sound setup failed ( no cards installed ). When KDE starts i get " Sound server informational message: Error while initializing the sound driver: device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such file or directory) The sound server will continue, using the null output device." i installed a pci card. system picked it up and installed a driver, booted, not working! Ran alsaconf all went well, got this at end. "Loading driver... Starting ALSA version 1.0.2c: au8810 au8810. [ OK ] Doing alsactl to restore mixer settings... [ OK ] Setting default volumes... Saving the mixer setup used for this in /etc/asound.state. /usr/sbin/alsactl: save_state:1061: No soundcards found... =============================================================================== Now ALSA is ready to use. For adjustment of volumes, use your favorite mixer. Have a lot of fun!" any ideas? thanks D |
