Why are you using an OS that reached end of life for support on 12/9/2011. There are no security updates for it anymore, no software repositories for it. I would recommend you try the newest version Fedora 20.

Also, when posting large blocks of code like above please use the code tags. It makes it easier to read

Hi,

jkirchner,

Thanks for the quick response. Actually i want this Fedora 14 OS as my data card (Reliance CDMA) wont support for the kernel above 2.6.36, and fedora 14 comes with 2.6.35 which suites for my data card, but my sound wont work

In that case I recommend to go for CentOS 6 instead, it comes with a 2.6.32 kernel and is supported until 2020.

cent is fairly good for the desktop

now laptops , that is a different matter

centOS like "SUSE Enterprise Linux Desktop" is targeted at office use as well as a server

the normal issues on laptops that are not on the RHEL compatibility list are
no sound
no mouse pad
bad graphics

Hi,

John VV,

As per the recommendations, I installed the Centos 6.5 and I got the sound back. I even got the wireless (WiFi) network too which was gone in Fedora.
But my datacard was was not working. The datacard was supportable only for Fedora upto 14 and Ubuntu 10.x. It was somehoew tricky to make my datacard to make it work on Centos and I was able to do so.

Now I got all my thinks working, sound,WiFi and yahhhh most important MY DATACAARD

Thanks once again my Friends who had help me to make things to happen.

Warm Regards,

redssr
