no sound??
hey everyone, I just made the move to linux suse from xp, and I'm loving it!!:p However, I downloaded and installed limewire, and there was no sound when i played the the mp3's from the library. I then tried to play them in xmms, but there was no sound from there either. I have a sony vaio, and not sure what to do about this:confused: Any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks!

Well there are a couple of things you should do.
1. check that your sound card was found by suse 2. check you valume and settings 3. sometimes multiple sound daemons will run and that will make your sound not work. Try just running alsa. good luck |
well all of the volume's are fine, and when i go to the YaST sound configuration, it says card model 82801DB AC'97 Audio Controller Running... but still nothing.
...how do i run alsa as my primary? |

you need to have patience... :)
dont give up hope because some one hasnt posted in the last 30 min to find out whats running type in (in the terminal) su - and then your root password once your root type in lsmod and there you should look for what sound daemons are running if any. Try a google.com/linux search for alsa or whatever service is running. |
