No Sound [FC2]


greetings.. i'm kindda new in the world of linux. and have managed to install fedora core 2.
at the first time i test the sound, it worked. but i dont know what happen, after a few minutes i cant hear the sound. even i when i test it.

fc2 detected and recognized my sound blaster audigy correctly.

i havent restarted yet since i install the fc2.
what i have done was only installing opera web browser, and flash plug in for my opera.
but then i tried to run up2date.

since then i cant hear any sound.
please help

THis has been asked too many times to count. Just do a search for "fedora core 2" and "sound" and you'll find what you need.

thanks for the feedback.
however, from what i have searched, fc2 has some problems with sound <please correct me if i'm wrong>
i'm using kernel 2.6x
i'm still a newbie that knows very little of linux. please guide me.. ^_^
well.. maybe i'll just go to fc1.. ^_^

cerebellum: Before you try to "fix" the FC2 sound problem, run the volume control application and turn up all settings to Max. If you are trying to listen to a CD as a sound test, many of us have found that you need to set the CD slider almost at Max to get the CD sound to work properly. There really is something odd about the sound configuration in FC2.

I suppose sound problems may be for FC2, what getting SATA drives to work were for FC1. After all, FC is just the Guinea Pig for RHEL.

Thats what I had to do ... and it isnt the normal sound slider .. I have to adjust the PCM slider
