No makefiles for uml installation


Help plz
i have fedora core 3 installed. the kernel version is 2.6.9-1.667.
when i go to /lib/modules/2.6.9-1.667/build/ and typed "make linux ARCH=um" the following errors r displayed.
/lib/modules/2.6.9-1.667/build/arch/um/Makefile:31: arch/um/Makefile-tt: No such file or directory
/lib/modules/2.6.9-1.667/build/arch/um/Makefile:31: arch/um/Makefile-skas: No such file or directory
/lib/modules/2.6.9-1.667/build/arch/um/Makefile:37: arch/um/Makefile-i386: No such file or directory
/lib/modules/2.6.9-1.667/build/arch/um/Makefile:38: arch/um/Makefile-os-Linux: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `arch/um/Makefile-os-Linux'. Stop.

when i went to arch/um directory i found that these makefiles r missing what can i do to overcome this problem.
