no internet under console

Hi! I´ve installed slackware 10.2 a couple of days ago and now doing some experiments with the console (i an a newbie). internet through kde is on, but when i use commands lynx or links through console nothing is going on. it just writes - ´making connection´ for about 20 minutes already. i connect to internet through proxy.
Please help!

Is there any sense using the console for web browsing, does it need to be especially configured?

sounds like you're not using the http_proxy and ftp_proxy environment variables, or any other low level methods to use proxies.

where can i find some information concerning ´low level method to use proxies´?
during the installation my network was successfully configured.
On one of the installation stages i was asked how do i connect to the internet, i chose dhcp.
what command/programs can i use to deal with the problem?

read the manpages for each app you wish to use. essentially you'd run a command like "export http_proxy=username@myproxy:80" then run whatever console program you'd want.
