no internet under console
Hi! I´ve installed slackware 10.2 a couple of days ago and now doing some experiments with the console (i an a newbie). internet through kde is on, but when i use commands lynx or links through console nothing is going on. it just writes - ´making connection´ for about 20 minutes already. i connect to internet through proxy.
Please help! Is there any sense using the console for web browsing, does it need to be especially configured? |
sounds like you're not using the http_proxy and ftp_proxy environment variables, or any other low level methods to use proxies.

where can i find some information concerning ´low level method to use proxies´?
during the installation my network was successfully configured. On one of the installation stages i was asked how do i connect to the internet, i chose dhcp. what command/programs can i use to deal with the problem? |
read the manpages for each app you wish to use. essentially you'd run a command like "export http_proxy=username@myproxy:80" then run whatever console program you'd want.
