no hard disks were found for the installation

Hello,
I am trying to install Linux for my first time. after booting from the CD I get the following error...
"no hard disks were found for the installation"
I am guessing this is due to my hard drives being connect to a LSI Mega RAID SCSI 320 controller and I need to install some sort of drivers for them to be detected.
I have got to the "load IDE/RAID/SCSI modules" screen but am unsure what to do next ???
any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve.

It would help if you told us what distro you were using and what your hardware specs are.

I have a Dell Optiplex L170 that I used to, before I grew up, run Ubuntu on. Everytime I did a new install Ubuntu said the exact same thing. The issue was how Ubuntu was using the PCs bios, I had to reset something with the hdd setting in the bios and then Ubuntu would successfully install. After moving to Debian I have never had that trouble. I can't remember the exact setting, and even what I had to do with Ubuntu during the install so I'm sorry if this is of no great help.

I suspect the more popular distros will ignore scsi.

Slackware has kernels with built-in scsi support: see §4.2.1 on
