no hard disks were found for the installation
Hello,
I am trying to install Linux for my first time. after booting from the CD I get the following error... "no hard disks were found for the installation" I am guessing this is due to my hard drives being connect to a LSI Mega RAID SCSI 320 controller and I need to install some sort of drivers for them to be detected. I have got to the "load IDE/RAID/SCSI modules" screen but am unsure what to do next ??? any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks, Steve. |
It would help if you told us what distro you were using and what your hardware specs are.
I have a Dell Optiplex L170 that I used to, before I grew up, run Ubuntu on. Everytime I did a new install Ubuntu said the exact same thing. The issue was how Ubuntu was using the PCs bios, I had to reset something with the hdd setting in the bios and then Ubuntu would successfully install. After moving to Debian I have never had that trouble. I can't remember the exact setting, and even what I had to do with Ubuntu during the install so I'm sorry if this is of no great help. |
I suspect the more popular distros will ignore scsi.
Slackware has kernels with built-in scsi support: see §4.2.1 on http://www.slackbook.org/html/system...on-kernel.html |
