no grafical
Hello, I just installed linux(red hat 9, shrike), but I can't get in the grafical mode, i can press
ctrl + alt + F1, then I see the command screen, if I press ctrl + alt + F5 I see only a white flickering dot, and if I press ctrl + alt + F7, my monitor goes in stand-by mode, what do I have to do? |
I guess the X configuration is too high for your monitor. try xf86config or xf86cfg for setting better values. one of those is command line and will always be able to setup the X right.

thanks, ill try it.
Im not sure if it works, because the first time linux is booted there should appear a first boot screen or something, but I see nothing? |
I don't have any experience with the newer redhat distro's so I don't know if they have a graphical bootscreen, but if they do and you don't get one, it can be the framebuffer or console on framebuffer isn't supported? someone correct me if I'm wrong about this... but a graphical bootscreen isn't needed to run X, so that's not the biggest problem.
