no /dev/ppp0

Trying to set up kppp with a serial modem on arch linux (which uses devfs).

When I load the ppp_generic module (kernel 2.6) a /dev/ppp node pops up, but for the life of me, I cannot get a /dev/ppp0 node.

I have
alias /dev/ppp* ppp_generic

in my modprobe.conf and modprobe.devfs

Without /dev/ppp0 pppd will not start.

Any ideas?

HC

As root, try run pppsetup, see if you can get it working through there.

Not to sure about kppp

The answer, I am stupid; did not have ppp_async enabled in the kernel.
