Talking No desktop on KDE!


OK, I did something dumb as root, changed some permissions,
actually i'm not sure what i did! anyway tried to log in as normal
user in KDE. IT took the name and password , login box dissapears
then.................. NOTHING! no desktop nothing happens!
I'm using red hat 7.2, I can log in fine as root but not as regular user

HELP! what do i do

Try reinstalling KDE? Or if you want some debugging output, you can try:

$ script ~/KDE.script
$ startx

When KDE quits reacting, kill the X server by using Ctrl-Alt-Backspace.

Type CTRL-D (end the script) and then say less ~/KDE.script

Question Found a /dev/null:Permission Denied

Thanks i will give it a try. Found this file in my /tmp ,if i change permissions
will it bring back my regular user?

gave it a try but i guess there were other problems anyway, will reinstall RH on another box, just installed mandrake 8.0 on this one just to get back to the forum! workin blind here but hangin on!
