No D-Bus daemon running - after installing updates Ubuntu 12.04
Hi community,
I installed the updates (as normal) on my Ubuntu 12.04 distribution this morning, restarted and now stuck in tty1. I cannot log into the GUI desktop. I have gathered that
I have spent the last few hours reading other forum posts and have removed the .Xauthority file (as I think I login in the root group (does that make sense?)). I am currently trying to chown a dbus file but don't seem to be able to find it...! Eg: chown -R rob:rob ~/dbus I have tried to restart lightdm but without dbus running I am stuck. I have tried switching to tty2, tty6, tty7 etc - still don't get normal GUI. Any suggestions as to what I should do? Any information I can provide to help? |
Hi & Welcome to Linux Questions!-:)
I'm not the expert with this; sorry. If you have tried startx to get back into the GUI and it fails it's because there is already a X server running. I think the file your looking for is: /etc/init/dbus.conf Do you have a black screen? Are you getting any error messages? If so please post them so other members can help. These links might help. Sorry I don't know more-- http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ubuntu-721487/ http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...ight=dbus+file http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...+the+dbus+file Hope that helps |
